Los Angeles Newsroom

Join Harbingers’ Magazine at a 10-day journalism conference in the City of Angels, from July 21 until August 1, 2025

In January 2025, Southern California faced devastating wildfires that resulted in at least 29 fatalities, the destruction of thousands of structures, and widespread evacuations and power outages across the Greater Los Angeles area. The Palisades Fire, which ignited in January, consumed over 23,000 acres and severely impacted surrounding communities.

Meanwhile, President Donald J. Trump, who began his second term on January 20, 2025, has launched a political offensive in both domestic and international politics − escalating efforts to centralise executive power, challenging academic institutions and the media, and reigniting tensions with traditional U.S. allies while engaging in talks with authoritarian regimes.

For the fourth edition, the Harbingers’ Magazine Newsroom annual conference moves from Oxford to Los Angeles. During the 10-day workshop, students will engage in News Reporting, Opinion writing and Feature writing, combined with podcast recording and work with a video camera to provide coverage of the state of affairs from California half a year into Donald Trump’s second term in the White House.
