Additionally, we extend a warm invitation to members of the LGBTQIA+ community to participate in The Harbinger Prize 2024. This is an incredible opportunity for young creators between 15 to 17 years-olds to share their stories and be a part of a movement that drives impactful change.
Participants get a chance to showcase their work on a global platform, contribute to meaningful conversations, and join a community of like-minded teenagers committed to making a difference.
Winners will be part of the Harbingers’ Magazine project throughout the 2024/25 academic year, and the ultimate winner will be awarded the prestigious Harbinger Prize 2024, along with an exclusive reporting trip with a mentor from the OXSFJ.
To be up to date with these developments, and if you know of someone particularly talented in captivating audiences and readers, please encourage them to to submit an entry to this year’s competition. If that person is you, know that you are welcome!
Young creators can submit a variety of story types, including but not limited to:
- Explaining their journey to understanding and embracing their own gender identity and sexual orientation.
- Experiences of coming out to friends, family, or school communities. The challenges, triumphs, and personal growth encountered along the way.
- Challenges and success stories about navigating the school environment as an LGBTQIA+ individual.
- Personal opinions and impact of LGBTQIA+ representation in mainstream media, books, and film.
- Articles addressing current events, social policies, and activism impacting the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Narratives about involvement in LGBTQIA+ advocacy, grassroots movements, and campaigns for equality.
- Profiles or interviews with inspiring local or international LGBTQIA+ advocates and role models.
