Shristi Kafle

Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, Shristi Kafle is a journalist with a decade of experience, writing mainly on foreign affairs, Nepal–China relations, the environment and climate change.

She started her journalism career with Nepal’s Sagarmatha TV and Mountain TV. In 2015, she joined Chinese state media Xinhua News Agency (Nepal Bureau) as a correspondent, producing news, interviews, features and special reports as well as video stories. Her work has been picked by different national and international media.

In 2021, she left her full-time job to work as a freelance journalist and consultant. Currently, she contributes to various Chinese media platforms and Nepal’s national English-language daily, The Annapurna Express. She also writes on the environment for The Third Pole.

Shristi co-founded the Nepali podcast Period Kaa Kura, focused on women’s health, and is on the board of the Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ).

She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s in English literature, both from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Shristi speaks English, Hindi and Nepali.
